Thank you for understanding.

The use of optical instruments, started by the Italian Galileo Galilei, has allowed giant leaps in our comprehension of the Universe. The astronomical refracting and the reflecting telescopes have made us discover new planets — Uranus by William Herschel in 1781 and Neptune by Johann Gottfried Galle in 1846 — but also nebulae, star clusters and different galaxies from our own, an idea which would have stunned the great astronomers of Antiquity.
The goal of this site is to collect all the information pertaining to all those objects that we call the deep sky, i.e. any celestial object that is located outside of our Solar System.
